Web hosting is the act of providing the necessary hardware, software, and connectivity to make a web page available on a network (typically the Internet, but web hosts may also serve on a local area network with no outside access).
The most common combination of hardware and software, known as the LAMP stack, consists of:

- Apache web server
- MySQL database server
- PHP, Python, or possibly Perl as a scripting language
