About

The pedestrian bridge over I-40 connects the south Durham section of the American Tobacco Trail with the newly-constructed (2013) Southpoint section, which now connects to the section south of Durham at Massey Chapel Road. Getting from one to the other previously required alternate for a mile or two, depending on route.

The bridge officially opened on 2014-02-20.
