About

Samba is not only useful for sharing files between Linux and Windows, but also for sharing printers – i.e. allowing Windows machines to print to printers hosted on the more stable and more configurable Linux, or vice-versa.

This page is a seed article. You can help HTYP water it: make a request to expand a given page and/or donate to help give us more writing-hours!

However, there are a number of issues relating to printer configuration under Samba which don't occur when printing locally using CUPS (the standard printing system in Linux) or Windows, or when printing on remote printers using other protocols.
