About

The fediverse or fedisphere is any system of computing systems that connect together as peers without a central server or directory, also referred to as a "federated network". It may also refer to those systems which are compatible with (and connect to) a specific protocol, such as "the GNU Social fediverse" or "the Diaspora fediverse".

It is most commonly used in federated social networking, though there are other applications.
