Blue Stockings is the name of a band in Athens, GA which was active as early as 1996 (see htwiki:Red House Media) and as late as 1999 when they released their compact disc entitled 33. The band is presumably named after "Bluestocking", an early 19th-century term for an educated, intellectual woman.
