How To

The Signal download page has instructions for installing the desktop on Linux. To set up the app after installing, you have to use your mobile to authorize the connection:

  • On your phone, load Signal and go into the settings screen. Select the linked-devices listing.
  • There is a blue "(+)" button at the bottom right -- press that.
  • This will activate the camera so that Signal can scan the QR code and add your desktop.
    • (Note: need to add instructions about where to find this on the desktop app.)
  • Note that this is the exact same mechanism as used by the Discord QR exploit.
