Twitter has multiple levels of API, ranging from public (no special authorization needed) to Enterprise (your market cap must be at least this high to use).

From most to least accessible:

Public:
- Twitter for Websites
- public status to be verified:
  - Post, retrieve, and engage with Tweets
  - Replay API
Developer
Premium
Enterprise
