In a typical Ubuntu setup, Prosody keeps files in these locations:

  • /etc/prosody
  • /var/lib/prosody - text database, if not using relational
    • Includes passwords stored as plaintext.
  • /var/log/prosody
    • error and standard logs, autorotated
