About

The 501 Diner was a diner-style restaurant located in Chapel Hill, NC on the service road just to the right as you go under the Franklin Street bridge at the Franklin Street / Fordham Boulevard / 15-501 exchange coming from Durham.

In one of the rooms, there were booths located around a central island which directly accessed the kitchen, so servers could access the tables without going into customer space.

The building was originally an automobile gas/service station. After the Diner closed, it stood vacant for some years and was next occupied by a School of Rock location (see Wikipedia).
