- smb.conf: the Samba configuration file
- smbusers: the Samba users file - seems to be only for earlier versions; now replaced with more structured storage
file structure
- /etc/samba/
- ...smb.conf: the Samba configuration file
- ...gdbcommands: very short file, no idea what it does
- /run/samba: seems to be runtime data?
- /sbin/ is a symbolic link to /usr/sbin/.
- /usr/bin/: general binary folder, including the following Samba executables:

- ...smbcontrol
- ...smbcquotas
- ...smbget
- ...smbinfo
- ...smbpasswd

- ...smbstatus
