About
Cool Edit Pro (CEP) is proprietary multi-track audio editing/recording software for Windows 9x and higher. It was created by Syntrillium, which was acquired by Adobe Systems in August 2003. Adobe renamed Cool Edit Pro as Adobe Audition [W] and updated it so that it now requires Windows XP and higher (no longer runs on Win9x).
Plugins
A number of import/export format drivers ("filters") are freely downloadable from vuplayer.com. They also work with Adobe Audition.
User Posts
- User:Woozle/2005/06/04/Cool Edit Pro vs. Adobe: Anyone needing to replace their copy of Cool Edit Pro must depend on pirated copies distributed over the internet (usually via BitTorrent sites), as Adobe does not support it.
Notes
To get CEP to scan for new filters, delete the flt.dat file. (If there is an error with one of the filters when CEP is initially set up you may get a dialog box telling you to delete this file when the problem has been resolved, but it will only appear once.)
