iff

iff is a term used in mathematics and logic to mean "if and only if". The normal usage of "if" in English, given the example of "if A is true then B must also be true", does not necessarily imply that "if A is false, then B must also be false". "Iff X" specifically means that the outcome is dependent entirely on X.
