BP seems to be one of the good guys among the oil companies; their solar unit, BP Solar, is now the world's third-largest solar company, and reported its first-ever annual profit in May, 2005, and on November 28 they announced BP Alternative Energy, a new business unit that will manage BP's investments in solar, wind, hydrogen, and combined-cycle-gas-turbine power generation. Their web site also contains extensive data on oil production and other energy-related topics.
