A psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) is a residential facility (category) for the treatment of psychiatric disorders. In other words, it is a residential treatment facility specializing in psychiatric care.

The US Department of Health and Human Services defines it as "any non-hospital facility with a provider agreement with a State Medicaid Agency to provide the inpatient services benefit to Medicaid-eligible individuals under the age of 21 (psych under 21 benefit)."
