South Square in Durham, NC is a shopping center which currently is home to a Sam's Club, Super Target, Golden Corral, one or two other big-box stores and a half-dozen or so smaller stores and restaurants.

The shopping center is located on the site of the former South Square Mall, which was demolished in the early 2000s.

Notes

I had heard that there were plans at one point for the planned Triangle Transit Authority light rail system to run through this area, and that ultimately the larger stores ended up being placed in the location where the rail would have been -- but it's not clear to me how this would have worked, or why the rails couldn't be somewhere else (say, closer to 15-501 Business). --Woozle 14:16, 1 January 2006 (EST)
