Overview

Sitar India Palace is an Indian restaurant with a location in Durham, NC (in Regency Plaza near South Square) and another in Raleigh, NC. It first opened in 1998, when Regency and South Square Mall were both thriving retail areas.

They are remaining open during the demolition/remodeling of Regency Plaza, with no plans to move despite being the only business still there. According to their web site, they have signed another 10-year lease at the same rate.

Review

Their lunch buffet is generally pretty good and includes nan and onion chutney (sometimes called "hot onion"), usually some kind of pakora, and of course a good selection of meat and veggie main dishes. They stopped having chicken tandoori a couple of months ago, and that was the only main dish Harena liked (she doesn't like hot-spicy stuff), so we've been going other places. --Woozle 09:32, 12 October 2005 (EDT) (Update: apparently that was a temporary outage, as they have had chicken tandoori since then.)
