Cancellation

DirecTV does not provide any online means for customers to cancel their accounts; they say you have to phone them to cancel your account, although presumably sending a letter would work as well.

Woozle notes

Since we hate phoning and didn't have time to send a letter, we just stopped paying them. After about three bills were late, they simply deducted the balance due from the credit card on file -- which we did not knowingly authorize them to do (though it is probably buried in the fine print somewhere). After that, I canceled "paperless billing" and changed the credit card on our account to the number of a card which had been canceled due to theft. We'll see what they do next; the most recent activity was a paper bill showing a zero balance. --Woozle 14:33, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
